Matthew
10:37-39
He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he
who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who
does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who
finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will
find it.
Luke
9:23-24
Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after
Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses
his life for My sake will save it.

Peter 2:19-25
For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one
endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you
are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good
and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: “
Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth”;
who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered,
He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges
righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree,
that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by
whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray,
but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
John
8:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of
the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the
light of life.”
Matthew
16:24-25
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come
after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses
his life for My sake will find it.
John
12:25-26
He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this
world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, let him
follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone
serves Me, him My Father will honor.
Matthew
19:21
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what
you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven;
and come, follow Me.”
Mark
10:21
Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One
thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the
poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the
cross, and follow Me.”
Luke
5:8-11
When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees,
saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O
Lord!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at
the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and
John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said
to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch
men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they
forsook all and followed Him.
Matthew
19:27-28
Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all
and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?” So Jesus
said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the
regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you
who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the
twelve tribes of Israel.
Luke
9:57-62
Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to
Him, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.” And
Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air
have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
Then He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said,
“Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” Jesus
said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go
and preach the kingdom of God.” And another also said,
“Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them
farewell who are at my house.” But Jesus said to him,
“No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back,
is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke
14:25-33
Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them,
“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and
mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life
also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and
come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intending to
build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he
has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the
foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock
him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to
finish’? Or what king, going to make war against another
king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten
thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or
else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation
and asks conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not
forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
John
10:1-30
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the
sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a
thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of
the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice;
and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he
brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow
him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a
stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of
strangers.” Jesus used this illustration, but they did not
understand the things which He spoke to them.
Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you,
I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and
robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone
enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find
pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it
more abundantly. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd
gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the
shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and
leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters
them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care
about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am
known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and
I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not
of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and
there will be one flock and one shepherd. “Therefore My
Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to
lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have
received from My Father.” Therefore there was a division
again among the Jews because of these sayings. And many of them said,
“He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to
Him?” Others said, “These are not the words of one
who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And
Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. Then the Jews
surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in
doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus
answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works
that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But
you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give
them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone
snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is
greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My
Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”

Peter 3:8-17
Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another;
love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil
for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing,
knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
For “He who would love life and see good days, let him
refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let
him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to
their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against those who do
evil.”
And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is
good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake,
you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor
be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and
always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for
the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good
conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile
your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is
the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
Philippians
3:12-21
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press
on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid
hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but
one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching
forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for
the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us,
as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think
otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the
degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let
us be of the same mind.
Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as
you have us for a pattern. For many walk, of whom I have told you
often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the
cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly,
and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on
earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also
eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform
our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according
to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
1
Thessalonians 1:5-7
For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and
in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men
we were among you for your sake. And you became followers of us and of
the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the
Holy Spirit, so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia
who believe.
2
Thessalonians 3:6-14
But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not
according to the tradition which he received from us. For you
yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly
among you; nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but
worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden
to any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make
ourselves an example of how you should follow us. For even when we were
with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall
he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a
disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those
who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that
they work in quietness and eat their own bread. But as for you,
brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. And if anyone does not obey
our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with
him, that he may be ashamed.
Revelation
14:1-5
Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him
one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name
written on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like the
voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard
the sound of harpists playing their harps. They sang as it were a new
song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the
elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and
forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. These are the
ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are
the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from
among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth
was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of
God.

Timothy 4:6-11
If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good
minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the
good doctrine which you have carefully followed. But reject profane and
old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for
all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is
to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For to
this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the
living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who
believe. These things command and teach.

Timothy 3:10-17
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions,
which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what
persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes,
and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer
persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse,
deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which
you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have
learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy
Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith
which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
